Now that the iPhone 5 has been announced there has been a lot of buzz about the rumored iPad Mini. The 7.85 inch iPad will compete with the Kindle Fire HD and Nexus 7, in the smaller tablet category.
There are rumors that invitations for the iPad Mini event will go out on October 10, which likely means an October 17 event. Since Apple typically releases its products one or two Fridays after its events the iPad Mini will be out on either October 26 or November 2, in time for the holiday shopping season. Some rumored specs include a thinner bezel around the screen, 512 MB of RAM, Apple’s A5 processor, a rear facing camera and their new lightning port.
The Wall Street Journal reports that Asian suppliers have started mass production of iPad Mini components last month. There hasn’t been any word on the price of the smaller iPad or an official name for the product. As usual Apple has been silent regarding the rumors.
