    I shoot live music as one of my specialties, and really when sized down to working levels (websites and small magazine features), both cameras are going to be pretty comparable in ISO performance. Where it all changes is with those many, many megapixels. The D800 is flat-out going to look substantially sharper doing it.

    You made the right choice. I've had mine for a month but haven't shot any concerts yet this season. Can't wait to do it!

    The D800 will be slightly better in low light and using the DX crop mode will get you some extra reach while still providing ~16MP files.
