Hi Abhishek, there are two great cameras you're looking at. I think I'd recommend the P510 because of its huge zoom lens. It features 36x zoom, in one lens. You won't be able to get anything like that on a DSLR like the Nikon D3100.
Having a single 36x zoom lens will mean you can take close up shots far away, and take regular photos of things near you without having to carry extra lenses or change lenses.

Do you advise any special care/training for using Zoom of 43X or so?
Is it difficult to manage and a tripod is a must for outdoors?
Does SX40 perform better than P510, though it has less zoom and no GPS?
