I've been taking photo's for twenty years as a hobby. Currently use a Panasonic FZ50.

Which camera do you recommend for Ric-Pickett?

Panasonic DMC-FZ150 - $547
12 MP|24x f/2.8|1/2.5" CMOS|3" LCD
Canon SX40 - $319
12 MP|35x f/2.7|1/2.5" CMOS|2.7" LCD

Hi Ric, I think both these cameras would do a good job. The Canon's extra zoom might come in handy for shots of the moon though! You could also consider Fuji's superzoom lineup, either the HS20 or HS30, both have about 30x zoom I think, and slightly larger sensors for better image quality, and shoot RAW, which I see is something the SX40 is missing.
