The dSLR is definitly the way to go, but be prepared to spend plenty for a nice fast zoom.
Which camera do you recommend for Ivelisse-Rosario?

Hi Ivelisse, taking photos indoor in low light of sports is just about the toughest thing to do.
To do this well is really tough, because you need a fast shutter speed to freeze the action. You also need a longer zoom to get in close which with any non-pro lens will mean you're getting less light.
I think to get good photos with the T3 you'd have to buy a lens like the Canon 70-200mm f/4 lens, for about $800. Even better would be the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 for $1,300. Either way its pretty pricey.-
Intermediate IIa year ago Chaotic-LightA cheaper option is to go with the Canon EF 70-210mm f/4. You can find these used for about $100. The focus speed is much slower and it is soft at f/4, but not bad for non-professional work. Like WaterlooAlex said "better would be the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8". Lets in twice the light and focus is lightning fast, but costs 10 times as much. -

I would take the Nikon D5100, because of it's good low light performance and amazing image quality.
