Hi Carolina, the Nikon D7000 is an awesome camera, with better low light image quality, a larger viewfinder, great video and more.
However, when buying a DSLR your lenses are really important, so if you have any existing Canon lenses you should consider sticking with Canon. Either way, I'd recommend spending some money on lenses.
A fast prime lens like a 50mm f/1.8 will be amazing for portraits and natural light, for travel you might look at a longer zoom lens.
