Hi I have been looking at nikon coolpix p 300 and nikon p310 read your review vs 300 against 310 results did not please me as which magazine rated it highly. I have £175 to £250 and would like you to tell me if any camera can beat their results for same money. I am not to fussy about going to deep into raw and jpeg just want pictures in very fine detail especially in macro. Would either of these two suffice. I have at the moment canon 2.1 meg pix ixus ai af. (OLD BUT NOT BAD PICS) Regards Bob

Hi Bobby, I think the Canon PowerShot SX230 would be a great camera, it has 14x zoom which will be great for all sorts of photos, especially outdoors, and kids running around.

Most point and shoots have similar image quality due to the size of their sensors. If you do want a step up in image quality then you need to consider the "pro digicams" with larger sensors like the Canon S100, the Olympus XZ-1 or the Panasonic LX5.
