I am constantly carrying a camera and I think I need something smaller

lspencer53 | Asked  over a year ago | Last response was 9 months ago
I have a big SLR but it's to much to worry about and carrying it is getting a little tiresome. I want a good, small, and versatile camera. Is this camera good for things like general photography? Which one of the two Nikon 1 cameras would be best for a person that is used to the image quality of an SLR and all the features that come with am SLR?

Which camera do you recommend for lspencer53?

Nikon V1 - $500
10 MP|Nikon CX CMOS|3" LCD
Nikon J1 - $397
10 MP|Nikon CX CMOS|3" LCD

I'd recommend the Nikon J1 unless you need the viewfinder or external mic from the V1, that way you can save money and possibly spend it on additional lenses!

have you considered samsungs new nx200 with 18-55mm or maybe even the 18-200mm? it's small, compact, convenient and has some nice pancake lenses too. The image quality is really awesome.

For general photography, Sony's NEX-5N is a much better option (image quality, low-light performance). The Nikon 1 series is good for only action/video works.
