I am a teacher of special needs children and I love to travel.

I need a camera to photograph my students catching my students with their eyes open, hard to get with special needs students who are hard to get to look at the camera. And that will reduce blur when they move. I need a camera that will photograph well indoors.

I also love to travel so I want my camera to be able to capture great travel photos. In an ideal world I would also get something that would do nice close-up photography for flowers, etc. Even if it isn't the G12 or P7100, I'd like to know what camera to pick. I find all the information I read overwhelming.

Which camera do you recommend for Sally-Grove?

Nikon P7100 - $299
10 MP|7.1x f/2.8|1/1.8" CCD|3" LCD
Canon G12 - $509
10 MP|5x f/2.8|1/1.7" CCD|2.8" LCD

On the other hand, if you're looking for something that will let you take indoor shots using natural light, you might want to consider something more like the Canon G1X. It has a much larger sensor, which produces better quality images and can take photos in 4x less light than either of these two - but costs about twice as much

Sally, I think you'll do equally well with either of these cameras. I'm assuming you'll be using flash for taking the indoor photos.
