Filming beauty tutorials and when I spend time with my family, I also want to take great macro pics.

Hi guys! I own a Nikon D40 and I know how to handle it, so I'm not a beginner but not an expert. I would love to get a camera that can film nice HD videos, that can focus quickly if I want to get an object close to the camera and then get back to "portrait" filming quickly, for beauty tutorials. I also want to be able to take great macro pictures, I love to take pictures of insects, flowers and just nature during the year. I know that the Nikon can take panorama pictures which is cool if there's a nice cenery ahead and I also love the fact that the Nikon can take HDR pics directly. I'm leaning towards the Nikon but I tested the Panasonic in store and I got the idea that the focus thing I was talking about was great at the Panasonic, I had some problems with the Nikon on that point but I didn't really check the settings, so I'm not sure if I'm right. I'm not into the whole 3D picture thing since I don't have a 3D tv and I'm not planning on getting one. And about the GPS, it's cool, but I don't use iPhoto or any service that I can use the GPS system in. I'm very confused! I'm also thinking about the Sony Cybershot tx9v, but the macro on it is not as great as the others... So I'm not sure. What do you guys think? My guts say that I should go with the Nikon, it's kind of the "best of both worlds" for me, but I'm not sure... Is there anything really bad about both cameras that I need to know about?

Which camera do you recommend for MajorBitchslap?

Panasonic DMC-TZ20
14 MP|16x f/3.3|1/2.5" CMOS|3" LCD
Nikon S9100 - $223
12 MP|18x f/3.5|1/2.5" CMOS|3" LCD

Go for the Panasonic, their travel zoom line of cameras are very highly regarded, I've recommended them to friends and family and they are great. Great wide angle, great zoom, easy to use.

Nikon makes great DSLRs, but for point and shoots they're not as good, Panasonic, Canon and Sony are generally better.

Thank you for your recommendation :) Do you know anything about filming with them? Or with the Panasonic? And what do you mean by "travel zoom line"? I'm from Sweden so I'm not sure that I understand :)

By "travel zoom line" i just meant these cameras are called travel zooms, and Panasonic makes a bunch of these cameras each year, often referred to as a line of products or lineup.

I just meant that their travel zooms are generally really good.

I haven't heard anything specific about filming with them, sorry I can't help more.
