Neither of these cameras has a lot of zoom. If you're going on Safari you need a good zoom lens, I'd recommend a travel zoom like the Panasonic ZS10, or the Sony Cybershot HX9v, they have about 18x zoom. They're a good compromise of compact size with lots of zoom.
