Dog ate my camera

I had a DMC-FZ35 which I need to replace.  Considering the DMC-FZ47 - I don't really want to pay price of the DMC-FZ150.  Actually just bought a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200v which is going back - too pricey.

So, will I be as happy with the DMC-FZ47 as I was with the DMC-FZ35?  I don't want less of a camera or less quality images.  Also battery life is important.

I take mostly still and some video.  I'm a former 35MM camera person, digital for years now.  But want the best quality at a reasonable price - under $300.  Seems I can get the 47 for $299 now.
