I am a photo enthusiast, who is just starting to get more into photography. I have been shooting with a Rebel but it is time for an upgrade. I love shooting kids and families. I am not sure whether to go for the 7D or the 60D. Photography is a side business for me, but I am looking forward to the option of one day doing it full time.

Which camera do you recommend for Donna-Hagin?

Canon 7D - $1,279
17.9 MP|APS-C CMOS|3" LCD
Canon 60D - $699
17.9 MP|APS-C CMOS|3" LCD

If you're considering using it for business (you can write it off) part time and then FULL time, buy the most camera. True the feature set difference is small, but the the difference is in big areas IMO (that's why it costs more). You'll want 19AF points, shorter lag times, faster write times (CF vs SD cards). Weather seal may not be that important to you. And besides if you ever upgrade to a 5dmk11 or a mk you'll be able to use your CF cards...then again you may have some SD cards from your rebel use. note action shots...you'll want more AF Points, they could be difference between that winning smile.

These are both great choices and have similar image quality (with a slight edge towards the 7D) but I would lean towards the 60D because the difference in cost would allow you to put more money towards a great lens like the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM.
