I have a digital camera, but I want to go to higher level of Photography. First I decided for DSLR cameras like Nikon D3100 or  Canon 550D, but as compared to long zoom DSC cameras it seems more comfortable than DSLR's, Please suggest & difference between DSLR & other long zoom cameras.

Which camera do you recommend for Ravinderpal-Singh-Bhatia?

Sony DSC-HX100v - $362
15.9 MP|30x f/2.8|1/2.5" CMOS|3" LCD
Nikon P500 - $329
12 MP|36x f/3.5|1/2.5" CMOS|3" LCD

Sony has better stabilisation, video quality and slightly better picture quality...but ...both of these cameras cant compare with 550d image quality in any way!

So if u have money go for 550d with 18-105mm (or 18-200) or even d3100 with suggested lenses
