Canon T2i v/s Nikon D3100 ?

Tanmay-Misra | Asked  over a year ago | Last response was over a year ago

I am a beginner...and i'm an amateur...would like to stay as one but i'm very passionate about this new hobby... Please suggest me a good camera.... Please know that I'm not going to switch to another one soon or before 3 - 4 years. Can't afford to :)

I was also looking into Canon T3i / Nikon D5100.

Though not very sure of what kind of pictures I will be taking, but most would be in an urban environment and sometimes when I go on my hiking trips...

Thanks

:)

Which camera do you recommend for Tanmay-Misra?

Nikon D3100 - $447
14.2 MP|APS-C CMOS|3" LCD
Canon T2i - $535
17.9 MP|APS-C CMOS|3" LCD

Tanmay, these are both great cameras for a beginner (as are the T3i and D5100).  I think you'll do well with any of those selections.

      Hi Philip,

Thank you for your suggestion. But I would want to ask you, should I go for a D5100 or T3i against D3100 or T2i.

Also, I have done a lot of research over the net, but still can't decide between Nikon v/s Canon. I have a Nikon point and shoot s9100. I never felt happy about the pics I took with it. May be, it was my fault may be not. Its just that my experience with Nikon wasn't good. But, I dont was to base my judgement on that while buying the dslr, plus nikon is $100 cheaper than Canon...

      Please suggest.

Nikon tends to have better image quality in their DSLRs. Plus, any DSLR is going to be way better than a point and shoot. If you can find one $100 cheaper than the other, I'd suggest taking the deal.
