I'm just learning, but instead of jumping straight into a dslr and the tons of lenses, I wanted to ease into it. I figured a good bridge camera would be best. I'm a mom of 3, who wants to take better quality pictures and video of our family whether it be on a trip, at a baseball game, family event, or wedding, indoor or outdoor. I want to be able to have some control over it, but also an auto ability option that is smart enough to not miss a good shot, especially one that is far away! I want something better than my point and shoot. I really was set on buying a nikon, but now I really don't know.

Which camera do you recommend for Stephanie-Gaea?

Panasonic DMC-FZ150 - $547
12 MP|24x f/2.8|1/2.5" CMOS|3" LCD
Fujifilm HS30 EXR - $294
15.9 MP|30x f/2.8|1/2" CMOS|3" LCD

This is a great all-rounder. The only reason to pick the FZ150 would be for the sake of the external mic jack. Otherwise no contest! The HS30 also has a great battery life (Great for people like me who can't be bothered to charge the batteries every other day!

The HS30 has all the manual controls of a DSLR. It is the better camera to learn on before jumping over th DSLR..
