it has 18 megapixel ,some "experts" say that megapixel doesn't have much role in pictures..but its not true.You can compare expensive 12 megapixel camera and cheap 18 megapixel camera , the result will be crisp and clear about more mpix means more quality.550d has sharp focus and very amazing picture capabilities both in vdo and stills.Only one thing is that it doesn't have AUTO FOCUS in vdo mode.But i don't see it as a disadvantage.550D has very high ratings in comparision to various cameras.By the way after 5d i think it is second to it.It is cheap but have heavy package inside.If you care only for better still picture quality you can select Nikon, but if u want both better vdos and photos ,choose 550D.In addition,watch various vdos shot by 550D in YOUTUBE.com.You will surely get satisfied.
