Takes pictures at low light & to zoom close to an object

The low light performance is the main factor in choosing a camera. The zoom also is a plus, but I'd rather have good low light quality then the zoom. I go to a lake in the summer time & I would love to capture pictures of it at night with the moon shining down. I want to be able to take pictures of landscapes like the sunrise and sunset.

I'm really stuck between the two cameras.

Which camera do you recommend for Danielle-Scott?

Sony DSC-HX100v - $379
15.9 MP|30x f/2.8|1/2.5" CMOS|3" LCD
Nikon D3100 - $447
14.2 MP|APS-C CMOS|3" LCD

If the low light performance is priority, then definitely d3100 (with 18-105mm VR lens if u can afford)cause it has much better sensor and image quality
