If the low light performance is priority, then definitely d3100 (with 18-105mm VR lens if u can afford)cause it has much better sensor and image quality
The low light performance is the main factor in choosing a camera. The zoom also is a plus, but I'd rather have good low light quality then the zoom. I go to a lake in the summer time & I would love to capture pictures of it at night with the moon shining down. I want to be able to take pictures of landscapes like the sunrise and sunset.
I'm really stuck between the two cameras.
