I need a camara for outdoor shooting, images that have a high definition

I am an architect and I need a canara for outdoor shooting,  I use the images as a suport for my presentations that we print in large format so the images need to be in a high resolution, I had a digital nikon and I wasn't so crazy about the colors but it seems to me that the nikon p310 has a larger aperture, I also had a compact canon and the colors where some times to strong, they are great for a holyday foto but for working it later in photoshop they are to saturated, I am beginner so Im not used to do the advance correction so I was looking for a camara tha worked well in automatic and that could give great result in the manual advance modes, also money is an issue so I wish I could buy the canon S100 but is to much for me, so what do you think is worth spending the money in a cheaper nikon or in an older canon, thanks for your opinons.
