taking photos, not much video

i am an intermediate photog....need to take some pics for publications, but mostly for self enjoyment,  limited video usage...(don't post video on FB or elsewhere., no kids ect)...i am replacing an olympus camedia P-750 ultra zoom, that got dropped....just not sure which way to go...entry level dslr or easier to use super zoom....i've been comparing nikon d3100 to nikon coolpix L120  (love the red)...to canon powershot sx40...to canon rebel T2i...any suggestions??
