I'm an advantaged photographer and want to replace mij Canon 40D with batterygrip because of the weight.

So my new camera had to be portable, quick start up and responsive and of good image quality.

I'm 54 years old and want to look through an viewfinder rather than an Oled or LCD screen.

Which camera do you recommend for Freek-Bom?

Sony NEX-7 - $948
24 MP|APS-C CMOS|3" LCD
Olympus E-M5 - $924
15.9 MP|Four Thirds CMOS|3" OLED

e-m5 is extraordinarily fast focusing camera. Its also lightweight and more characteristic than the sony. Even the image resolution and noise performance of sony is better I will prefer olympus. Because its more important to catch the moment than the resolution of the image.

Also I had a chance to hold nex-5 and e-m5 in my hand, the menu's in olympus much more better and user friendly. Also with the manuel using. The nex-5 was annoying with the menu and it wasn't easy to change aperture, shutter speed quickly in manuel use.

The NEX-7 has a higher image quality and is smaller in size and lighter. The OM-D however is weather sealed and cheaper. It has a micro 4/3 sensor, the same as in the PEN cameras. If price is no option, go for the NEX-7. Also, you may want to take a look at the Fuji x-1 pro, the lowlight performance is really good.

Thanks The X-pro 1 cost with 35mm in the Netherlands 2295 euro. Last weekend I bought the bargain Pentax K5 (Aps-C sensor), with 18-55mm and 50-200mm for 884 euro.

Image quality differences are marginal at best. There are way, way more lenses for micro 4/3 than for the NEX system. Go with the OM-D.

The images of the Fuji X1-Pro look good, when they're in focus. BUT, BUT, BUT the camera does a very, very bad job auto-focusing. Do a web search on "Fuji X1-Pro focusing issues".

E-M5 wins here, because it's weather- & dust-sealed,  and because it doesn't have those huge, soft-cornered NEX lenses.  I considered both, but the "super control menu" on the E-M5 allowed me to avoid doing NEX menu-diving.  And the E-M5 DOES continuously focus during movie shoots...if you've set your preferences up right.
