These are both excellent choices to start with.
If you want to shoot landscapes then also consider getting a set of filters -- either the screw-on glass kind (I've been very happy with Tiffen filters) or the drop-in kind (check out Cokin A-series or P-series). In particular, look for the following filters: ND (neutral density), GND (graduated neutral density) and CPL (circular polarizing). Don't forget a sturdy tripod.
Or if you prefer wildlife, you'll want a good zoom lens for the big guys and maybe a good macro lens for the little guys.
