taking professional photos of furniture

Hi guys,im a furniture designer..when i do a new line of furniture i hire a pro to take my pics but when i do one off pieces i try & take my own photos....im an photographer amateur photographer at best i  used to have a d60 & it would take an ok pic but i broke it..im looking at a pentax k100 or does anyone have any suggestions??
