Sports, weddings, portrait, wildlife

I coach my daughters fast pitch softball and am highly interested in taking stills and action photos of the team.  Also enjoy taking wildlife photos, and have my oldest daughters wedding coming up in a month.  I really like the size of the NEX 7 (would be more apt to take the camera with me) and the high quality images it takes but I think the D 5100 may be an all around better camera that would be easier to upgrade in the future.  Price and camera style aside what thoughts does everyone have out there.

Which camera do you recommend for streetglide7?

Nikon D5100 - $497
16.1 MP|APS-C CMOS|3" LCD
Sony NEX-7 - $948
24 MP|APS-C CMOS|3" LCD

i'm a NEX-7 owner and i know that the image quality is better than from the D5100. You can compare it in dxomark.com. But the NEX-7 has a disadvantage too, the autofocus is slower than on a DSLR because it uses a contrast detection method, compared to the phase detection focus on a DSLR its slower and the battery is faster empty than on the DSLR. But except this, in all other sections the NEX-7 is much better and because of this its more expensive. When you have the money to buy a NEX-7 but you want to shoot action look at the Nikon D7000 or the Pentax K-5 (which has the best results and it is weather proofed) and it is cheaper than the D7000 and the NEX-7. I suggest, buy the Pentax K-5 and for the saved money, buy a good lens for it. You cant go wrong with the K-5 its absolutely awesome. sorry for my bad english. good buy!

The K-5, as Nico-Socha said, is one of the best cameras around. Even with it's kit lens (18-55 WR) it delivers very good pics. For the price of the Nex, you can buy a flashgun (it is a must have for a wedding!). I'd go for Pentax AF 360 FGZ, it's enough for just about anything. Good luck!
