I am a beginner dslr user. I care about image quality as well as to get the more photo satisfaction when using my photo.

Which camera do you recommend for Elias-Malioukis?

Nikon D7000 - $897
16.1 MP|APS-C CMOS|3" LCD
Sony NEX-7 - $948
24 MP|APS-C CMOS|3" LCD

I believe that the D7000 is one of the best cameras out there, it offers you a lot more versatility than a Mirrorless camera like the NEX-7. The NEX-7 has a lot of cool toys, and is much smaller but the D7000 is the better camera.

Yeah but Pentax K-30 is half the price and better picture quality.

The Nex-7 is not a DSLR. Get a Nex-5 and use the money you save to by a decent lens.

These are two very different beasts. One is more of a pocket camera that you can sling into any bag and forget about, the other a fat DSLR. You may grow to hate the fact the DSLR is so big and bulky, and as a beginnger, unless you're prepared to do a lot of learning, the D7000 could be too much. If you are looking at Sony Nex-7, consider the 5, or even Olympus Pen cameras. The Nex-7 is a lot of money for what you get. If you want to 'get into' photography then the options available with lenses, filters, flashes etc with a DSLR are far greater than the Nex-7.

If you want to 'get the shot' you are far more likely to get it with a DSLR. IQ may be better on paper for the NEX-7, but what does that mean if you've missed the moment because you're still trying to change aperture and iso. On the D7000 you have dedicated buttons and dials to quickly change your settings and a fast responsive AF system. Importantly too you have an optical viewfinder that is much more effective to use.

If you want a fun camera that doesn't dominate so much and aren't too worried about getting a shot exactly as you had in mind then go Sony.

The Sony is much smaller and lighter so it's much easier to carry around with you.  Their image quality is basically the same (with a slight advantage to the Nikon in low light).

Sorry, I can't help you there. All my applied experience is with Canon products. :)
If you are able to, I suggest you go to a local camera shop and try both.

the nikon has a little bit better noise performance but when you scale the photo from the NEX-7 (24MP) down to the D7000 size (16MP) the NEX-7 has the better quality.

i only have experience with the NEX-7, Sigma SD9 and the Canon 30D an i must say that the new Tri-Navi system from the NEX-7 is absolutely user friendly and fast. There is no other camera out there with this concept but i believe it will be in the future because its very simple and quick to set the most important functions on the fly.

I have the NEX-7 and i compared both for a long time. I choose the NEX-7 because the IQ is better... look at DxOmark and compare it. They dont compare the Megapixel aspect and without the fact that the NEX-7 resolution is 1/3 bigger the NEX win with 81 Points to 80 points for the nikon. But the Nikon have a weather sealed body. When you shoot in the rain its better to get the Nikon... and when people say the Nikon does have a better noise performance, then try to downsize the 24Mp photo from the Sony and you will see the NEX-7 is not so noisy. I hope that helps... sorry for my bad english.

i mean downsize the Sony picture to fit the 16MP from the Nikon then you see there is a slight advantage for the NEX.
