The NEX-3 gets you a lot closer to actual DSLR cameras. That means that it has a huge sensor and is still compact(micro 4/3). I have this camera and its is the best transitional camera into a DSLR. Its still compact, it has an automatic and manual modes so that as you grow in your knowledge of DSLR you can easily make that transition without buying a new camera. I am a photographer and I print huge 16x20 poster all of the time. The Sony NEX-3 is all I shoot with.
