Definitely an amateur.  Usually shoot in auto mode.  Have a Cannon SX100 and looking to upgrade to better low light shots, action shots, and quicker flash recovery.  Would love suggestions.  Budget up to $300.  Would love suggestions.

Which camera do you recommend for abcphotos?

Canon SX150 IS - $90
14 MP|12x f/3.4|1/2" CCD|3" LCD
Nikon L810 - $199
15.9 MP|25.4x f/3.1|1/2.5" CCD|3" LCD

I think I would go with the Canon SX150, if you want to stay with something familiar. There is not a huge difference between these two cameras, but the Nikon L810 is a slightly better camera, it has a larger zoom, and has a lot of cool features.

I have the SX150 IS and the flash recovery is slow. I moved up from an SX120 ISS and the recovery is definitely slower.

If looks don't bother you, Canon sx150 is the way to go! It is cheap and has gr8 performance. But with a 300$ range, you could even look at getting the Sony DSC-Hx9v or Sony DSC-Hx20v.
