both video & photography

I am a beginner and currently I walk around with a video CAM and a photo camera to shoot video/pictures of my kids. My main concern is taking photo's/videos indoors with low light because my current camera Panasonic FZ7 disappointed me a bit regarding this issue. My children (probably like all others) hardly sit still when I want to take a picture and therefor the picture looks blurry.

My questions:

1) I wonder, can I expect better low light performance of the TZ30 or should I go for the Canon instead?

2) my media player does support H.264 (standard of Canon) but not AVCHD (standard of TZ30). Is it easy and not time consuming to convert (with off-line tooling) AVCHD to H.264?

Best regards,

Joan
