Hi i am looking for a camera for a beginner.

I am getting a camera for christmas and i can't wait to get started in photography! thing is, i cannot decide which camera would be better for me. please help? i do not want any gimmicky filters. i would also like a good battery life but i don't want one over £450 and i would be using it for general photography.

    I was also on a long search, in the end i bought the nikon d3100 and i absolutely love it. It's a nice entry level dslr.
