Image quality (esp. in low light)

beginner with digital slr. love lomography. looking for a camera with features that would allow me to be creative in terms of editing, and one that's good for use on everyday events.

Hi Helina, these two cameras are very very similiar, and have the same image quality, you can't go wrong either one! The T3i is newer, I'd go for that!

The D5100 has a lot better image qualty than both of these, rating of 80 I think... and the 2 mp will be no difference.
