Taking photos in low light...concert photos etc.

I'm big on concerts and also go on a cruise every year.  A lot of the photos I take are at night when there is little light and my subject is often farther away.  Would also like clear, crisp photos.  Something that works with action too, since my subjects are often moving.

I've seen different reviews for both cameras.  I was able to actually try the Canon in the store and it looked good there.  Just wanted to get the best camera for my money.

Which camera do you recommend for Lisa-Lumpkin?

Nikon S9100 - $223
12 MP|18x f/3.5|1/2.5" CMOS|3" LCD
Canon SX260 HS - $238
12 MP|20x f/3.5|1/2.5" CMOS|3" LCD

Neither cameras are capable of taking good photos for concerts where lighting is often poor if not dismal, especially when the camera lens is zoomed out to its maximum.  It's not a knock on these cameras. Even if you use a tripod, you may get more sharper overall image but since the shutter speed will be low due to poor lighting, moving objects and people will still come out blurry.  Even DSLRs will need special pro caliber, "fast" lenses to capture concert images clearly.

They will both take excellent pictures even at its maximum zoom setting when the lighting is good such as sunny day ouside, preferably mounted on a tripod.

You will need a P&S camera with fast lens such as Canon S100 or Nikon P310 and be more up close to the concert action to take potentially sharper photos.  Otherwise, most all P&S cameras will come out blurry.  Concerts are one of the toughest settings to take sharp photos.
