good autofocus, fast autofocus, great nature shots,

Im a hobbyist, and my friend wants to buy my a390 with three lenses and a flash for $475.    I want to switch to a Nikon camera, because my impression is that they have better quality lenses, so in the future, I can just upgrade my body. I'm chasing a hawk, and I love birding.
