All purpose travel

I will be using this as a general travel camera (but am not very concerned about gps features). I have a digital SLR, but would be using this as a 2nd camera on the go, when it's raining, harsher conditions, etc. The "rugged" qualifications of both would be fine for my purposes. The best camera for me would be the one that would function best all around for image quality... indoors & outdoors, low light situations,etc. Any suggests would be much appreciated. Thanks!
