Hi Friends, i'm entering newly to Dslrs. I have used an old Yashica Film Slr though for a bit.(Never had AF). After all the R&D and comparisons, I've zeroed in on Nikon D3200 and AF-s 35mm prime 1.8g instead of kit lens. Even though I'm not fancied by 24MP and video capabilities of this cam,but other aspects like the Image processor, sensor, speed. Guide mode and the reviews from experts pushed me into this cam. Only worry I've is the absence of AF motor. I click for the joy of amazing results. I enjoy shooting Landscapes, nature, portraits, City, Low lights,Travel, Sun,,, all in all, general day to day shooting.  I find this cam the best in this price range.

Bottom line-- I'm looking for a cam which gives me the best photographs.(Not keen on Video)

My queries:-

1. please don't tell me to go to a store and feel the cameras. My need here is your takes.(D3200 is still not available though)

2. In this price range is there a better DSLR and lens(35mm) option?(Anything in CANON?)

3. Is the AF motor absence that a big deal??? Will it affect my Lens options that badly in a long run? Even though I dont feel that I cant survive without AF. Later if I buy a 70-300 AF f/4-5.6g( I read it wont AF) is it gonna be that difficult without AF???However on the other hand I feel Nikon has good AF-s lenses now. Or is it wise to go for a cam with built in AF motor,

4. I have tried me best to share my concerns. Kindly suggest me, advice me on any part of my query. Your views, comments or suggestions are much appreciated and would be really helpful for me and newbies like me. Thanks fellas.

D3200 has a better sensor than the 600D.

    It takes better pictures.

Make sure you get lenses with AF-S. These will auto-focus with the D3200.

The AF-S 35mm F1.8 is perfect for this camera and will get you beautiful results with little effort.

    Good luck, whatever you choose.

    35mm f1.8 is a v good choice

if u do not have old lenses carried forward - do not worry

AFS models of all lenses are available  - buy AFS and get rid of any worry

    AF-S VR Zoom-NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED (4.3x) wud give u massive range on a d3200

AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II can be a multi purpose investment
