I'm a beginner in photography. I like to learn how to take pictures of BBC Top Gear style - sharp and colorful in focus, smooth in the back, artistic-looking. I will take pictures like portraits, street views, industrial objects or cars on background of countryside view. It all should look juicy! Another words I'll concentrate on mixture of natural and industrial objects in harmony or in chaos.

Which one to buy? 600d or d90?

The camera itself isn't very important for the type of photography you're talking about.  You need to be concerned with lighting and post processing.

If you bought Nikon, here you have a color curve for Top Gear: CUSTOMPC at www.neebu.net

I'm a long time Nikon user and I would recommend it for usability. Using Nikon SLRs is a pleasure. I have Canon 50D too and it feels weird in comparison. However for the movies 600D is certainly a better choice (external mic, better compression, swivel screen and more...).
