Crystal clear, detailed photos

I'm a beginner looking to invest in a higher-end camera. I'd like to be able to take crystal clear images that rival those of a DSLR. I'll mainly be taking photos of people, pets, and landscapes. I've been looking into the Olympus PEN E-PL1 (and E-PL2) as well as the Olympux XZ-1, but I'm open to other suggestions. My two biggest requirements are the ability to shoot in RAW and flash being built in to the camera.

If you're going to use the zoom lens on the E-PL1 instead of the pancake lens, it's better to get the XZ-1 instead. The f1.8 of XZ-1 can match the micro four thirds with a zoom lens.
