Most digital cameras would probably suit. Since you're not very much interested in leaning about the technology then you likely wont use most of a DSLR's (such as the Canon Rebel T3) features.

I would suggest stopping by any electronics store with hands on displays. Go to BestBuy or any other store with a friend or relative, ask some questions, and most importantly, take some practice shots of your companion with various cameras and decide for yourself if you're satisfied with the product. Once you found one you like then I advise you to buy it online.BestBuy is great for tinkering with toys but will really rip you off when it comes to making a sale.I recommend Adorama or B&H or even eBay for used models.
