I am a beginner and want to take photos at my childrens sporting events so need camera with fast shutter speed and sometimes low light situations.

Which camera do you recommend for dmcsportsmom?

Canon T3i - $549
17.9 MP|APS-C CMOS|3" LCD
Canon T2i - $500
17.9 MP|APS-C CMOS|3" LCD

These two cameras are very similar when you look at the Snapsort comparison. The T2i has some very slight advantages and is more compact (unless you want a heavier camera).

The main difference with the T3i is that it has a flip out screen which is attractive to some. It can be useful for some odd angles or shots coming low from the ground where you cant get your head under the camera without lying down prone... but it is also more prone to breakage while in the "out" position.
I would ultimately suggest buying whichever of the two you can find a deal on.

Nikon D5100 is amazing in low light compared to the rebel's, the image qualty is also a lot better buy a 35mm dx 1.8 lens with it and you will have an awesome low light camera!

a 35mm lens will be a poor choice for capturing sports shots

Just curious, but I keep finding your comments about this same camera throughout these discussions. Do you even own this camera? If not, why are you even here?
