Filmaking at a amateur level

I want to be able to attach a external mic which both have. However how do the video codecs or any other video features majorly differ? I have lots of experience with dslr already, so that isnt a problem

The tilting screen is more handy than you'd think, and a couple other features are worth it.

Best bang for your buck. Definately look into magic lantern.

They're both basically the same. The biggest difference is the flip out screen, but for 100 dollars more, (those prices definitely aren't right) is it worth it for what you're going to be doing.

Unless you're committed to Canon, I would also consider the Nikon D5100 or D7000.

I've thought about that a long time and I must say for me is the 550d better. It has some cool features more like faster bootup times and also it's smaller. The Flip-Out screen is not worth the 100 dollars or what it is in america. And if you decide that you need that thing later you can get a 7" external screen for around 200 dollars.

I would not consider a nikon because: no fully manually audio control, no magic lantern,
