Never had a DSLR before.

I never used a DSLR before and I don't know what type of photos I will stick to. I'm going to take some sport (parkour) videos (not really often though) and I'm not sure if video autofocus will really help. Are "panoramas" and "3D photos" really cool features or it's just for fun and like "But we have them!"? Also, what kind of viewfinder is better? I heard that optical is better, because what you see is what you get, but electronic one has some helpful features built in.

Both 600D and A57 have same cost on my city.

Which camera do you recommend for madnesss?

Canon 600D
17.9 MP|APS-C CMOS|3" LCD
Sony A57 - $460
16 MP|APS-C CMOS|3" LCD

panoramas are really cool because it creates a very interesting image but 3D sucks to be honest. the sony is quite straightforwards in relation to the canon mind you

The SLT A57 is marvelous and i would buy it over any Rebel Camera and yes video autofocus is important for moving subjects + the image quality and color depth is better on the Sony

Buying a consumer dSLR is like moving from a Honda Civic to a base model Porsche 911.  A full frame dSLR is like turbo 911 level.  Don't know if you're into cars, but hope you understand the analogy.  So know that you are not just buying a camera, but a system: Camera Body, Flash, Lenses, even friends.  Once you have a system it can be difficult to buy another brand.  The body is just a part of the system.  You must also consider lens options and other accessories that you will want once you "get into it".  If you read (and believe) what Ken Rockwell says, "the camera doesn’t matter".  You will probably be trilled with any camera that is currently on the market.  I've personally never researched Sony, but you can't go wrong with Canon or Nikon.  Same is likely true for Sony as well, especially since this is you first camera.
