Detail for landscape and garden photography

bluebird50 | Asked  over a year ago | Last response was 9 months ago

I am an advanced amateur photographer currently using a Nikon D50. I shoot mostly garden and nature photos, I also write articles and photograph gardens for magazines. Would the D700 or D7000 be a good choice or should I go with another of the Nikon choices?

Which camera do you recommend for bluebird50?

Nikon D700 - $3,400
12.1 MP|Full frame CMOS|3" LCD
Nikon D7000 - $897
16.1 MP|APS-C CMOS|3" LCD

If you want to use the lenses you currently have (D50 is DX format) then the D7000 is the way to go as it is also a DX format camera.  If you are going to buy a new lens or lenses then you could go either way.  The FX lenses for a D700 are going to be more expensive then the DX lenses, but there are advantages to FX sensors and lenses.  Do more research, but either camera is an amazing choice and will do what you want WAAAAAAAAAY better then the D50!

There are some great video's on youtube explaining the differences between Full Frame (FX) and Crop Sensors (DX)
