I think I would save for another camera, the D300s has a higher build quality, but I do not think this is a large enough of a jump in features and image quality in order to justify the $800 price tag. I would go with the D7000, or if you are not in a hurry wait for it's replacement (I would guess some time in the next 6 months). The other option is to go full frame with the D800 or rumored D600, but that would involve upgrading your lenses as well.
