D5100 or D3200??..pls help

Jigar-Soni | Asked  11 months ago | Last response was 11 months ago

Hi Guys..i am an amateur photographer moving from point and shoot to DSLR. Clicking is my hobby. I prefer travelling light in terms of no. of lenses to carry around.

In to all kinds of photography...however prefer landscape and outdoor clicking..

My budget is around $800-$900(all inclusive)

Confused between the D5100 and D3200

D5100 has raving reviews..tilt screen..has got a price drop…but is an year old..

D3200 is newly launched…comes with an 18-105 kit..has guide mode for beginners like me..with wi-fi options and relatively feature rich..

Both look within my budget..i am looking at 1 lense (like the 18-105) to begin with and later add to my collection.

At this point i am still to understand a lot about photography and other minute details.

Request your views on the camera i should buy...i wont be changing the body for next 4 years atleast..

D3200 or D5100 or something else...??

Would be thankful if you could give a few reasons to your recommendation as well..

Thank you in anticipation.

Jigar

both cams would come with a 18-105 lens and body+lens would not cost more than 100 bucks apart with either body. i own the d5100 and my best friend just bought a d3200 - he missed the swivel screen - rest both of them are head to head at par with image quality

so it is swivel screen vs wifi for you to decide

video is a notch better on d3200 - if video is not a factor both bodies are head to head similar

Although on higher iso d5100 is a little better, on the long term, day photography is much better with d3200, much more quality pixelation, imagine the detail level on each picture due to the 24 mp sensor, it s very good for zooming on pics, video shooting again better on d3200.
