Sony a57 has a lot of features that nikon or canon only put in high-end cameras so your question is pointless....these cameras are no match for the a57

But the sony cameras have many flaws. They may be feature packed, but they lack in other areas. How many pros do you see with a sony DSLR?

It is not relevant how many pros shoot sony...because SONY DOES NOT HAVE A HIGH-END CAMERA, but in the entry-level, semi-pro range nikon and canon can't and will not beat sony. I repeat, for you and all the instagram, iphone photographers, Canon and Nikon are best in HIGH-END camera and bad in ENTRY-LEVEL, SEMI-PRO cameras.

I know but here I thought we talking about Sony, Canon or Nikon, not about Sinar or Hasselblad. I can bet that people who think that Nikon d5100 is the best camera in the world haven't even heard about Leica..not to talk about Hasselblad.

If image quality is your main concern then the D5100 is your best option.  It has the largest image sensor of the three cameras.  However, all three cameras are excellent choices for a beginner.

(In your other question you had a concern about the image quality of the A57.  According to DxO Labs, the A57 has better image quality than the Canon 600D and worse image quality than the Nikon D5100).

    A-57 vs Nikon D5100

    The A-57 has:

    • Mirrorless Technology • Upto 16000 ISO (25600 with ISO Boost) • In-Built Image Stabilization • 12 FPS Burst Mode • More cross-type focus points • More focus points • Built in focus motor • Faster video autofocus • Larger Viewfinder

There is no question of going for the D5100.

    A-57 vs Canon 600D

    The A-57 has:

    • Mirrorless Technology • A larger sensor • Upto 16000 ISO (25600 with ISO Boost) • In-Built Image Stabilization • 12 FPS Burst Mode • More cross-type focus points • More focus points • Better color depth • More dynamic range • Video autofocus • Larger Viewfinder

This takes the T3I out of my list too.

The only drawback I see with the A-57 is the EVF but only in extremely low light conditions. I have been using this camera for the past 2 weeks and its fantastic. It beats the D90 (which is approx 20% more expensive) hands down and rivals/beats the D7000 in all the important areas.

Another point one needs to rememer is that Canon & Nikon make pathetic entry-level DSLR's. Though their Pro SLR's are market leaders.

Try it and you will fall in love with it. I do not like the side swinging LCD on the Nikon D5100. Gave it to my daughter. I don't shoot videos or photos of myself.

For photography, the D5100 is supreme. For video, the 600D is also good, but Nikon is still better. At this level, it's the tiny details that count. The sensor sizes are the same. Image quality is all good. They're all big and bulky. Nikons are well known for their image quality however, so I recommend it. If you are new to photography, why not get the smaller, cheaper D3200? It is also a DSLR with a APS-C sensor and has a guide mode that teaches you the various functions of the camera. A great intro into photography. You can always choose to upgrade to a pro camera later on. :)
