Your comparison of Sony HX30V vs. Sony HX20V

A question about Sony DSC-HX30V, Sony DSC-HX20V

To the Editors:

I am perplexed by your comparison Sony HX30V vs. HX20V, for two reasons:

1) The HX30has WiFi, the HX20 no WiFi: this is the only but IMPORTANT (for certain persons) technical difference between the two (see the Review of the HX30 on CNET (USA) for the possibilities of transfers, backups and sharing to/with smartphones, tablets, computers and social networks).

2) The HX30 is LESS EXPENSIVE now than the HX20!

Not a word of these two criteria in your comparison. I urgently invite you to reconsider your comparison and get things straight (and not continue to declare the HX20 to be the winner and state at the same time that you are "not aware of any important advantages of the HX20 (sic!) vs. the HX30"...). Your appraisal is rather a Confusion than a Comparison:  a Confurison!

Best regards

Thanks for pointing out the distinction.  Our system currently doesn't track whether a camera has wifi... We will likely include this in the future if the popularity of wifi in cameras increases.

Thanks for your answer. It's not really satisfactory, because you avoid several issues; so I need to insist. The INCOHERENCES remain: How can you sensibly declare a NEWER model with a SUPPLEMENTARY, NEW and PROBABLY useful and futuristic feature (WiFi) as runner-up, and consider the previous model with LESSER features and a HIGHER PRICE as winner, with a thus thoroughly ARBITRARY and CONTRADICTORY number and difference of points, and then crown all this with the ultimate and supreme CONTRADICTION that you are not aware of any important advantages of the older, lesser and on top of all more expensive model in comparison to the newer and cheaper one ??? I'm afraid the responsible editor would need a thefty course in logic. But, fortunately, there is also something positive to remark: I VERY much APPRECIATE your two tutorials "Learn about TRUE RESOLUTION" and "Learn about MEGAPIXELS" and the consequence that you thus give calculated EFFECTIVE resolution figures in your reviews but also relativize the greatly exaggerated mega side of (micro)pixels (i.e. quantity mistaken for quality, as so often, and evermore). BRAVO! Yours sincerely Telemach, Geneva/Switzerland

You're correct on all counts. The current scoring on Snapsort takes a popularity measure into account when comparing cameras. This could easily explain why an older model outscores a newer one (because it's had more time to build popularity). Note that these reviews are not written by a human; it's not trivial to simply add wifi. With higher priority work in the wings, details like wifi end up getting pushed back. But I'm sure we'll support it soon enough.

As stated above WI-Fi and paradoxal the smaller price of HX30V are the only differences between these 2.
