I would like to take close ups of flowers outdoors

I have taken photos (not a lot) and am interested in taking closeups of flowers.  I love flowers.  I realize an SLR would take much better macro photos, but due to some physical problems, those cameras are too heavy for me.  So I need something more lightweight and have spent the entire day on the net searching and am overwhelmed with the choices and the meanings of fstop, ISO,

etc.  Someone please help!  Thanks!
