Please Suggest Me A Good Camera

I am a beginner but very much fond of nature. Need to click great snaps of nature with high optical zoom & at the same time no compromise on quality of image or video at higher zoom.

I even want to shoot photos and videos in functions in daylight and at night with great picture quality. I have gone through reviews on Nikon coolpix P510, Nikon coolpix S9300, Canon Powershot SX40, Canon Powershot SX260, Sony Cybershot HX100, Sony Cybershot HX10.

I am confused with so many features yet with one or the other drawbacks.

Which camera do you recommend for ksantoshk9?

Canon SX40 - $314
12 MP|35x f/2.7|1/2.5" CMOS|2.7" LCD
Nikon P510 - $345
15.9 MP|41.7x f/3.0|1/2.5" CMOS|3" LCD

i am very satisfied with the quality of pictures, especially if they are at ISO 100.

p510 performs well in daylight. at night, i have to use 'SCENE-portrait' mode or 'NIGHTLANDSCAPE' mode, both on burst-shot on in order to capture faces and moving shots. 'MANUAL' mode is good for non-moving subjects/tripod at night, otherwise too much blur occurs, forcing me to switch to SCENE-portrait or NIGHTLANDSCAPE mode. if even that fails to capture the subject due to low light and blur, what I do is take 1080p video, and pick still frames from the video. clear low-light pictures, although this results in a lower resolution image.

what annoys me about the p510 is its slow focus response. the subject would have already moved before i could even focus. and when shooting a video, the camera keeps on refocusing, especially when the subject keeps on moving.

if you are after zoom shots of relatively still subjects/objects, then the p510 is for you. it could even take an image of planets saturn and jupiter with its moons! for moving subjects, as long as they are well-lighted or in daylight, zoom shots are perfect.

before i forget, buy extra batteries (one or two extras).

i have not tried the canon sx40.

I would also consider Panasonic FZ150. It shoots RAW, it performs better in low light and has better video capabilities.

For the same reasons, also Fujifilm X-S1 is a good alternative. Even better in low light. It is a lot bulkier, though.
