For you, I'd suggest the 60D because a lot of the difference in cost between the 60D and the 7D are for features that are more applicable to sports photography (faster autofocusing, 25 frames continuous shooting, weather sealing). Also, the 60D has the flip-out screen and creative filters, which can be useful for some more artistic shots.
Which camera do you recommend for Danielle-W-Lundberg?

Visitor8 months ago Danielle-W-LundbergWith the family photography, I feel like I need a faster camera. Kids move! No? -
Expert III8 months ago Philip-DavisWhat are you currently shooting with? Sure, kids move a lot. (I assume you're concerned about 'missing the shot' rather than having blurry kids). I've found it's very hard to get everybody looking their best in a single shot... so sometimes I resort to creating composites in Photoshop. Do you have a camera shop nearby where you can go try out a 7D? If not, another option is renting one. (Canon_7D at www.borrowlenses.com for example) -
Visitor8 months ago Danielle-W-LundbergI have the T2i. I think the 60D won't be enough of an upgrade for me to justify spending the money on it. -
Expert III8 months ago Philip-DavisI'm inclined to agree with you. If you're looking for cheaper alternatives, take a look at the 50D on the secondary market. The T2i image quality is marginally better, but the 50D has a much stronger build and can shoot at 6.3 fps (vs. 3.7 in the T2i). -
Visitor8 months ago bwbiglowI think for shooting kids you really need a fast "lens" and great autofocus -- a camera with a fast frame-rate won't really help you. Your T2i is a pretty decent body - why not just get better lenses ? Like the 50 mm f/1.8 and maybe the 85 mm f1.8 both would be great for portraits and other family pix.

I think 60D is not much of an upgrade after T2i. I instead recommend considering Pentax K-5. It is also a better value for money.
