DSLR Video Production

I'm looking to invest in one of these for personal usage, but I also am thinking about using these in an upcoming low-budget short film. What recording modes are available on each (i.e. 1080p30), and how well do they stack up in a low-light environment? And are there any rolling shutter issues?

Which camera do you recommend for Chengaiz-Khan?

Nikon D600 - $1,997
24.2 MP|Full frame CMOS|3.2" LCD
Canon 6D - $1,999
20.9 MP|Full frame CMOS|3" LCD

no brainer choice - nikon d600

superior sensor - will give you stunning image quality even in low light, since it was ranked well above some more expensive pro dslrs in 3-6k$ range

uncompressed hdmi will give you the best output you can get out of the sensor

lots of old manual focus F-mount lenses are compatible with the camera - you can go cheaper and not necessarily worse

Definitely the D600. I have had the opportunity to do an -depth side by side comparison of the D600 and the Canon 6D, were I specifically discuss the advanced video capabilities of the D600. The D600 offers the same level of video quality and performance as the higher end Nikon D800. The D800 has already been embraced by Hollywood and used for TV shows and movies. There is a link in my article to a Nikon news piece on the subject: nikon-d600-vs-canon-6d-compared at www.digitalreviewcanada.com Hope that helps.
