Currently I have a Nikon P7100 yet I am wanting to get LX7 because of fast F/1.4 lens.

Beginner I
I have the G1X and the LX7. The LX7 far outweighs the G1X on speed and ability to shoot kids (my four year old NEVER stops moving), as well as being less intrusive and portable. I've tried the Sony and it personally leaves me cold (think less of a camera, more of a gadget), and the LX7 ticks all the right 'photographer' boxes. Just my opinion. The sony rx100 has the highest quality of picture and highest megapixels in compact cameras , also has a great color depth and noise so I recommend you the Sony RX100

The G1X AF is extremely slow. Good picture quality and very good low light performance but very slow AF.

Try this :)
Sensor a little bigger than normal Canon G series.Different EXR modes, for night and stuff.Realy good AF and awesome feel in hands.Manual zoom, like on a dslr cameras and it is cheaper :)
